We have been having issues with the temperature on this fridge. We have reached out to GE and they have not been helpful at all, say someone will call us and they do not. We are now months out, no solution and we are constantly tossing food out as it is freezing and getting ruined. Extremely disappointing.

I had to replace my Cafà 27.7 cu ft Smart French Door Refrigerator w/Hot Water Dispenser. Because I couldn™€™t justify spending another $4k on a fridge that only lasted 3 years, I purchased this one. It is so much louder than the previous one. There™€™s lots of clicking and humming sounds that come from the back and sides. I did purchase extended warranty this time. My only complaint is the quality of the plastic bins. I have plastic shoe boxes that are more substantial than the bins,but I recognize that many other mfg.fridge bins are of similar quality but otherwise I love the fridge! Its counter depth, it's well lit, the filter is easy to change., it's very handsome and very functional for my galley kitchen. Because it's counter depth, I can see everything and where everything is.

Defective door but overall good.

The inner flap on the left door does not swing into position to seal the doors when they are closed. The fridge is brand new. We are waiting on a technician to arrive, but it's been a few weeks which I think is too long to wait for a warranty repair/ replacement. If it wasn't for this I would give this fridge a higher rating. I like how the white doors and brushed stainless steel handles match the rest of the kitchen cabinets.

Not practical water dispenser

This design with the water dispenser ben inside is so hard to use. You need to open both doors and use to hands to fill. The spout is very small and hard to insert into your coffee pot or pot in order to fill with filtered water. It™€™s a very awkward design. Even though it looks nice from the outside, it™€™s completely impractical. I regret buying.

The WORST service technicians

Bought the fridge almost 3 years ago and one week before Christmas the compressor stopped working. Was able to get a technician here who was visibly upset he couldn't charge me for the visit as it is under a limited 5 year warranty. Derek has now cancelled on me TWICE. I have been without a fridge for 5 weeks with no help from GE or Bodewell. I would never purchase another GE appliance, and I would never recommend anyone else purchase one, either. I can easily spend thousands of dollars on a different brand, why stick with GE when they treat their customers so poorly? Completely disgusted.

I like the interior shelving and deep door shelves. We were very surprised to learn that the side of refrigerator is black and not the matte white as is the front. I have since read many reviews on this matter, and sad to hear GE states the picture in the Cafe on line site shows this in their picture. However, we bought it from Best Buy and the salesman never mentioned this to us. The salt in the wound is that to order the side panel in matte white costs $379, plus, you have to install it ourselves. This is extremely bad customer service! I will be reporting this to the BBB and the attorneys General office. Also, our freezer handle was defective and the installer had to report it and now we have to wait another day at home for that service to bring and install. Too bad this beautiful refrigerator comes with these issues.

Purchased this brand-new refrigerator and it did not work from day one. I thought that if I gave it a couple of days it would start to cool, but I was wrong. I had to go through Bodewell to have this serviced and it's been a nightmare. The first tech came out and mentioned the part regarding the coolant was broken and they needed another part. Since that part is on backorder, the next available date to service would be November 25th! This was last week and just trying to get a hold of anyone to help me out is worse than going to the DMV. The reps on the phone are rude and the only way to reach my case manager is by email, which they do not respond. I had to pry the rep to even give me a tracking number and when I asked if they can reach the warehouse sooner, she was so quick to say no. Ok cool. I do not recommend this brand to anyone.

Aesthetically perfect, but...

This refrigerator is beautiful. I love the color. The handles add elegance. Most importantly it's beyond easy to keep clean - there are no fingerprints or smudges like stainless. But it holds less food than my last (significantly less expensive) refrigerator. The shelves and drawers are too shallow to put away groceries without playing tetris to make everything fit. But the door storage is more than sufficient. Great for people who love condiments, but not food. It also makes a lot of noise. Not for very long, but very frequently.

Attractive functional fridge

I am really pleased with this refrigerator. We wanted to buy the larger model with 2 freezer drawers but it would not fit in our kitchen so we purchased this one. There are many pros and a few cons. Pros- good light in other refrigerator and freezer. Large capacity shelves in both doors with liners for easy cleaning. 3 bins for fruit, vegs, meat, cheese. Turbo cool setting. Love the icemaker- great ice and it is always full. The freezer looks small but it really isn™€™t- the drawer next to the icemaker holds 4 half gallons of ice cream and keeps the ice cream at the perfect temperature for scooping. And there is a full drawer below. Filtered water dispenser inside the fridge. Cons- vegetable bins are pretty small, it is hard to fit a full sized celery stalk in there. No butter keeper in the door, I really miss that. Freezer is the right temperature but I had to turn the refrigerator up 2 degrees because it was freezing things on the shelves. This is the right size for the 2 of us, probably would not be enough for a family. I have the matching stove which is why I decided on this refrigerator and I am happy with it.

We have had the appliance installed for 2 days now and if I had known that it was going to be as noisy as it is I would not have bought it. The noise is constant and there's no running from it. It's very distracting. I expect a "burn-in" phase with new products but this noise does not appear to be going away. Would not recommend this product to anyone due to the noise.

Love my new fridge!

I just received and had installed my new Cafà matte white French door refrigerator. It's the smallest model at 18.6 cubit feet and counter depth, which I love. It fits perfectly in the custom built space in my newly remodeled kitchen. I am looking forward to having the other Cafà appliances installed soon. Not only is she gorgeous but so efficient! The only small downside is the on/off slide button in the interior ice maker, is located in the bottom freezer drawer and not on the panel above in the refrigerator section as was my old refrigerator. Not a big deal and I would definitely buy this fridge again. Just something for GE to think about for a future model I also look forward to not having fingerprints show as on my old stainless steel. So far, so good! I love it!!

The ref. looks good and it works good, except the edge of the door sweats badly and runs water down until it drips on the top of the freezer drawer. Also, the ice maker doesn't cut off soon enough and when the freezer drawer is opened it pushes ice off the back and drops below the freezer drawer. We spent over $12,000 on a ref., dishwasher, range and microwave and have already, after just a few months had to have the range, ref. and dishwasher serviced. Dish washer was serviced three times already and still not fixed.

Beautiful fridge, freezer doesn™€™t seal

I absolutely love the aesthetics of this refrigerator and get compliments whenever someone new walks into the kitchen. However, the design of the freezer needs a lot of improvement. The seal on the bottom freezer does not close completely when you shut it. We have gone through the instruction manual, made multiple adjustments, and we still have a recurring problem of the freezer not sealing shut. We have found this problem is significantly worse when loaded up with frozen goods because the weight of the food pulls down on the door and doesn™€™t allow to top to seal. Since purchasing this fridge we have had to store the majority of our frozen food in a deep freeze and keep only the most used items (ice cubes) in the kitchen. Additionally, on more than one occasion the freezer had been closed ™€œenough™€ that the freezer door will not beep even though it is still open. I can see on the side that the light is off but the seal is not closed. This has led to us having to dispose of an entire freezer full of soggy food on more than one occasion. I wish I could recommend this fridge because it is so beautiful but I would not buy another.

Poor water and ice functionality

This is the only appliance I haven't had to service in 3 years, so 3 stars for that and the external design. The functionality however is awful. 1. The inside water dispenser is so poorly designed. One glass of cold water per hour. And good luck not injuring your thumbs if you need to fill a water bottle. There's no press and release so you have to constantly hold the button PLUS hold your cup at a very awkward angle as the doors keep hitting you to close. You have to be an acrobat practically. 2. Forget every changing the water filter, the whole point of a water dispenser. You have to hold the gray button down for about 10 minutes to flush out the suggested 5 gallons. I've injured my thumb doing this. 3. The ice dispenser has no stop sensor so it'll keep dispensing. 4. The refrigerator glass does not separate from the plastic so when something spills it'll stay in the cracks forever. So disgusting! 5. We have to keep the temperature a few degrees above the recommended temperature otherwise everything freezes.

Hope mechanically it lasts, because its functionality and BAD color concept if horrible. (1) Interior, there are not enough supports so can't arrange side draws too well. On Rt door there's a tinly mostly hidden shelf not too usable if one wants to store wine, milk bottles in shelf above. I place painters tape on necks of the short bottles/jars of items in that shelf to remind me items are there. Bottle w/ longish neck there prevent door from closing. Basically this is the same interior design, layout as what I had in my last 6 yr old GE profile. (2) I have a white Euro-look kitchen, mostly white. The sides and rubber door seal on this are all BLACK and stand out. I suppose since most of GE's items recently are stainless or black, and for the few all white appliance ordered, GE's saving a few thousand dollars in manufacturing. Apparently IT's profits are more important than customers' wants. IF I'd could have paid more to get all white rubber sealers, and sides painted white, I would have. (3) I'll now seek a quality painter to see if can rough up therse areas and paint white.... (4) handles are an awful copper-ish color with a gaudy copper ring so they could imprint 'CAFE' on it. Hardly a look of a high-end appliance in my opinion.

Beware of damaging refrigerator doors!

Large refrigerator, tiny freezer. Great care must be taken NOT to install the refrigerator all the way to the back wall. If you do so, the refrigerator doors may hit the adjacent countertop or cabinet handles when fully open and damage the front of the doors. The refrigerator door hinges do not have optional partial-stop mechanisms. There is no mention of this in the installation instructions.

Size info not right

Bought this fridge for my patnry and using the spec guide per this website, we built the cabinet for this fridge. The fridge is just over 33" in width not 32 3/4. The appliance store is now charging us a 20% restock fee to return the fridge unopened even though the specs per GE and their guide as well showed 32 3/4.

Beautiful exterior but problems in the interior. We™€™ve had to replace our door sensor within the first 2 years. It would beep and turn itself off while shut. The shelf™€™s and door storage has cracked.

Extremely unhappy with the quality of this refrigerator. Giving two stars because it looks pretty. But after only two years, the compressor burned out. That is absolutely absurd and should not happen. We bought it brand new. Not only that, but GE is telling us they cannot get the part to fix it for 4 weeks and they do not offer any loaner fridge. We have 3 small children, hosting thanksgiving, and will be left with no refrigerator through the holidays. I™€™m extremely disappointed in the quality but also the customer service. These are not cheap appliances and should absolutely not be failing within two years if purchasing. GE do better

We're used to a deeper refrigerator. I appreciate the slick and clean look of the front. I love the white and the brushed brass. However, I can't fit celery in the vegetable drawers. Too shallow in the model we have.

***LEMON ALERT*** ***LEMON ALERT*** ***LEMON ALERT*** ***LEMON ALERT*** ***LEMON ALERT*** I had this fridge for 2.5 years and have had the repair people to my house multiple times JUST LIKE THE CONSUMER WHO POSTED THE OTHER LEMON ALERT. Do not buy this fridge or other appliances from GE. Like the other customer with the same issues who posted on here. As a loyal customer, GE wouldn™€™t replace my broken fridge after I spent $10k on the appliance set even though the service people have been to my house 3+ times and now the warranty is expired. GE treats its customers horribly. I lost over a few thousand dollars of IVF medications this last time the fridge went out, and they only issued me $200 to buy a mini fridge while the service people are sent AGAIN to fix this broken piece of equipment. Not only was my IVF medication ruined but I came home to maggots and flies in the fridge after a 2 week vacation and it still smells like dead things in my house. SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND DO NOT BUY FROM GE!!!!!!!

We love everything about this refrigerator except the water dispenser. Based on the overall cost of the appliance, why doesn't the internal water dispenser have a sensor on it? It takes two hands to fill a water glass.

Ordered this fridge on November 2021, after waiting months for it the frame was bent on where the freezer door seals so it would freeze up all around the exterior area of the door. After waiting another long time, the replacement fridge arrived and has a few issues as well. The door stops on the freezer door do not stop at the same position so it wants to twist when you open it, Also, the temperature is supposed to be set at 37 degrees, but everything seems to freeze on the top shelf so I have it set at 40 degrees. I just worry about the temperature of the food on the lower shelves keeping cold enough. Lastly, the fridge is very noisy when it's running, loud motor and lots of banging and clicking sounds. I bought this line because it looks nice, but GE had a much better product it seems, many years ago,

Good functionality but annoying buzz/hum

Seems to work fine in the month we™€™ve owned it, and looks nice, but it has a very annoying buzz/hum noise when the motor is running. If I press a side panel, or in other ways apply pressure to the outside, the buzz stops. We™€™ve tried rearranging the contents several times, but no help. I™€™ve got to think it is related to the design or assembly, where something vibrates unnecessarily.

This beautiful refrigerator changed the look of my entire kitchen- I love the matte finish- it doesn™€™t show any handprints- It™€™s clean and sleek since the water dispenser in on the inside. The size is perfect and doesn™€™t stick out from the edge of the cabinets- I can say the freezer gets a little tricky when the ice is really full- The top and bottom drawers of the freezer just don™€™t align perfectly when the ice is full- I wish it would have come with an ice scooper. The depth of the refrigerator doors is great and they hold a lot.

Bad/Marginal Electronics

This is a replacement item as the previous one was defective and required all electronic boards replacement due to fridge section freezing and condensation on fridge doors.. Then just less than a year later, the unit started showing condensation again, besides mysteriously bumping the fridge section temperature setting. A decision was made to replace the unit. The new item initially showed condensation, but then it appears to have acclimated itself after 10 days and is working OK now.
