Much better than freezer ice!!

Solid ice machine. Perfect size for our family of four. We use distilled water and the ice always tastes great. The machine routinely requests that you sanitize and descale, so that gets a little old. Not hard to do just takes some time. You will need to purchase extra filters and descaling powder from GE.

Awful machine - do not buy!

This machine is horrible. It works.. until it doesn™€™t. I bought mine in March and less than 2 months later, I couldn™€™t even leave it on because it would make a constant squealing sound that could be heard throughout our entire house. Literally I couldn™€™t be on the phone from the other room because it was so loud and it would wake us up in the night from a different floor of the house. After hours spent with GE support, and having to follow up multiple times, they finally sent me another one. Within 1 hour of the brand new one being on, the squealing started. I just got my 2nd replacement, and guess what? Within 1 hour again loudest squealing. Brand new. $500 appliance that™€™s less than 4 months old. Also mind you this involves hauling a 50lb machine to mail it and then getting it unboxed, sanitized, and setup again every time. So many hours wasted on this product. They are refusing me a refund. I™€™d seen the negative reviews but ignored them; don™€™t do the same and make the mistake I did by purchasing this!

makes ice very quickly. i wish it had a setting for cubed but it is an amazing ice maker and it is more quest then alot of the other options ive had before. the self cleaning is very good as el and the ice is very consistent nothing to big or small. it is a bit big the size of it for my bar but we mad it work.

This is my 3rd opal, the first one worked great loved it, fast ice, perfect size..but they only last so long..My 2nd one i got in 10/25). 2 weeks in it wouldn't stop flashing clean, i did both cleanings and nothing, i called we tried a couple things. No luck they sent me a new one, 2 weeks in same thing, i called and Finally she told me to take the filter out and I was using the blue one, the better one... its not better. She said its probably all clogged up it happens. In 2 weeks!! she told me to only use distilled water in it, I have white filters left over from my last opal but she told me just to use the screen and distilled water....so I filled the side tank and no filter, it works but I think im going to use up my white filters and see what happens. Also the light inside will not work? 2 weeks!! Not happy. I know its just a light bulb but I paid good money for it to work and not break in 2 weeks..So distilled water is the way to go.. The only way to go..If you are not going to use distilled water dont bother it will not last..I still enjoy my ice but its a continuous money trap of distilled water I gotta lug in the house all the time...and im not happy about the light! I used that for a night light... so I wanna give it a 5 but I just can't...

Hopefully I got a defective one

I hope I just got a defective one but I had only used it a week before it started making loud whining noises and the Icemaker had only been making ice less than an hour. I cleaned it per instructions which it then started doing it more frequently. I don't know what to do. I readd that it may be because it was going in defrost mode but it only had been on and making ice for less than an hour and the only way to stop that noise is to unplug the machine. I don't usually write reviews but especially negative reviews but hopefully customer service can make it right or replace it because we do love the ice it makes and the quantity it makes. I still have the original box it came in. Anyone have any suggestions.

Restaurant Quality Ice Nuggets at Home!

Great ice, easy to use once set up

Works extremely well. Takes some time to correctly set up and sanitize (and rinse!), but once it's done it makes the best ice in 10 minutes flat. Less noisy than I thought it would be based on the other reviews -- yes you can hear it, but it's quieter than an air fryer.

I called to find out why the drip pan was not in the box with the rest of the delivery along with the 4 pack descaling blue filters and descaling kits I ordered with my ice maker. I was put on hold and was told that they didn™€™t know when the item would ship because they did not have them. So I guess I™€™m out almost $100 because you all have horrible customer service and didn™€™t seem to give a care to figure something out much less offer me my money back on the lost items. I™€™m extremely disappointed. This is my second ice maker with you all. I love my ice maker. But I™€™m not too excited about paying for items and not being reimbursed or at least getting items that I ordered.

Squeeking always comes back after cleaning

We have had this icemaker for eight months, and I bought the products to clean it whenever it tells me to clean. Right after I cleaned it, it goes back to its squeaking sound. I have tried everything to get rid of the sound, but nothing has worked. I am very displeased with how much time I have put into trying to get it working again.

If you buy an Opal 2 ice maker you better hope if does not break. GE states they do not make or stock parts for this product. They direct you to a third party vendor Encompass, who will also tell you they do not support the product or stock parts for it. They will direct you back to GE who will tell you "Don't know what to tell you, I guess you just can't get parts for this product". Buyer beware, the only remedy for a broken icemaker is trash it and spend another $600 on a product the manufacturer states they do not support after sale.

The GE Profile Opal 2.0 Ultra Nugget Ice Maker, XPIO23SWBB has been the best little addition to our home. Its sleek and modern design matches our decor perfectly. We knew as we were pulling it out of its shipping box that it was a high-quality product. It is a heavy machine for its size which let me know that it is going to be extremely durable. The directions were extremely easy to follow and we had our nugget maker set up within minutes. This machine makes the absolute best nugget ice. Every piece is made to perfection. It gives us that perfect nugget ice that we love from certain fast food restaurants. Our daughter used to drive 15 minutes to Sonic just to get a cup of ice. She is now saving time and gas money by having this icemaker in the comfort of our own home. The machine is quiet, which is another feature that we love. I am obsessed with the lighting this machine provides. It brings such a cool ambience into our kitchen. (It™€™s also a great nightlight when we need to go into the kitchen in the middle of the night.) It™€™s also extremely easy to clean, which is a bonus for us because we deep clean often, including our appliances. GE has knocked the ball out of the park with this product. We couldn™€™t be happier with this appliance. It is everything we were hoping it would be and more.

I love my new Ice maker! Its the Ice maker of the future. The set up was extremely easy and it comes with all the cleaning instructions necessary. I love the side tank option that makes a full batch without having to refill it. The machine is very quiet too. I tend to forget that i left it running. But thats where the SmartHQ app comes in. It allows you to set the schedule that works for you so u can have a fresh batch of ice ready for you before even waking up. The texture of the ice is perfect to enjoy with any drink, from plain water to coffee, to juices/cocktails or even the ones that enjoy chewing ice. I also love that you can place the side tank on either side you want, same with the ice scoop since its magnetic. I am still in the trial and error phase with this, ive noticed the ice doesnt prepare itself as fast as id like for it to be so i moved it to a little cooler area of the kitchen hopefully that fixes it. I would recommend wiping it down and letting it air dry to reduce having to deep clean often. Overall- would recommend!

GE Profile Opal 2.0 ultra nugget ice maker has the wow factor!! The ice maker was nicely packaged and easy to remove. Once I had it out of the packaging I followed the instructions that made setup very easy! Then the wait began to see those tiny chewable pieces of ice fall. It only took 10 minutes to begin seeing ice! Once the machine completed making and filling up the basket it was time! Needless to say the ice net my expectations and more! Delicious, crunchy and tasty ice filled my cup and my cravings! Highly recommended!
